No Justice ...
Diverse roster emerging following first Country artist signing, No Justice
Founded by entrepreneur and CEO Tim Porter in 2009, the Carved Records team is anchored by VP of Operations Phil Thomas (formerly of UMG Distribution/Fontana, RED Distribution) and Label DirectorJenn Littleton (CO5 Music, former Sr. Marketing Director/A&R Geffen Records).
“Carved Records was founded with a mission to encourage artistic integrity and career longevity,” says Carved Records CEO Tim Porter. “The Carved Records family has already signed two very unique and very diverse acts in No Justice and Texas Hippie Coalition, which is something that our label will continue to do in the pursuit of our creative vision. Our intent is not to sign as many acts as we can, but to keep our roster manageable so that we can build careers with them.”
The label’s first Country artist signing is No Justice, a five-piece band from Stillwater, Okla. The group has enjoyed significant regional success and airplay in Oklahoma and Texas, playing more than 150 dates per year and landing numerous No. 1 singles on the Texas charts, including “Never Come Back” and “Don’t Walk Away.”
“No Justice is a band that has proven hit-making ability,” says Carved Records VP of Operations Phil Thomas. “These guys have enjoyed great success regionally with multiple No. 1s, and we can’t think of a better act to introduce to Nashville and the rest of the nation than Carved Records’ first Country signing, No Justice.”
The No Justice team includes veteran Nashville artist manager Scott Welch of Scott Welch Management and veteran agent Jon Folk of Red 11 Music.
“Jon and I are excited about the partnership between No Justice and Carved Records,” says No Justice manager, Scott Welch. “The industry is going through a very challenging evolution today. To be successful in developing an artist globally, it takes great talent, work ethic, and the “special sauce” known as passion. Carved has demonstrated to all of us that they have the expertise and the “special sauce” to be one of the new forces in music.”
No Justice is currently in Nashville completing their debut album for Carved Records with producer Dexter Green. The project expands on the group’s Country, Rock and Roots sound and is scheduled for a late spring 2010 release.

Note from Jim Downing
| Tulsa Musicians Note from Jim Downing I have been approached by a reputable publisher about writing a book on the history of Tulsa Music. I explained that my personal knowledge only goes back about 50 years, but they said that should be adequate; that's quite a large scope. My problem is that these books are mostly pictures. They are requesting that I gather about 200 high-quality photographs, or images scanned to their high specifications. And that is the hitch. Even Teb Blackwell, who is doing the Oklahoma Bands and Discography book, doesn't have that many pictures, and many of them are not of the quality this publisher requires. So I'm sending out this inquiry to Tulsa musicians on the Gazette mailing list. Do any of you have quality prints of old Tulsa bands? Do you know of anyone who might have an archive of such? I would be responsible for borrowing these and sending them back after the publisher scans them. Please reply to this address. Thanks, Jim |

Tucker’s recent album, My Turn, was released to critical acclaim and bolstered with a slew of appearances on television such as the Larry King Live show, GAC, CMT and on NPR’s Weekend Edition. My Turn found Tucker taking on classic country songs originally recorded by the greatest male country legends of all time and turning the tables, giving classics such as “You Don’t Know Me” and “Oh, Lonesome Me” a powerful reconstruction from a woman’s point of view. The Boston Globe declared that “Lovers of retro country will rejoice over this” and the Philadelphia Inquirer agreed, saying “It’s hard to imagine a more well-executed tribute.”
Only 13 when her provocative “Delta Dawn” caused a nationwide stir and became a Top 10 country hit, Tucker has built one of the most successful and compelling careers in music. Considered one of the very few females of the “outlaw” country movement, she holds a Grammy award, two Country Music Association awards, two Academy of Country Music awards, and three CMT Awards. 23 of her albums have landed in the country Top 40 chart since her 1972 debut, and she has amassed 10 #1 country singles, 33 that have reached the Top 5, and 41 in the Top 10.
