What:

The Innovation & Entrepreneurship (I&E) program at Clark University is hosting an event for students to learn more about entrepreneurship and the arts.

“The World is Yours” event will be hosted by George Gendron, founder of the I&E program, along with students from the Innovation & Entrepreneurship program. This year’s keynote will be delivered by Matt Goldman, co-founder of Blue Man Group. Following his keynote, small teams of students will have the opportunity to network with a number of professionals, like you, about their commitment to the arts, entrepreneurial and organizational challenges and creative outlets.

Information about ‘The World is Yours’ event can be found below. This event provides an opportunity for you to market your organization to a very important target market and there will be considerable public relations efforts surrounding the event and its participants, as well. More importantly, I hope you will consider this opportunity as an investment in other leaders, artists and entrepreneurs.

Clark University presents Entrepreneurship and the Arts

What is speed networking?

Speed networking is a way for large numbers of people to interact quickly and effectively. In this case, students will move around the room, round robin style, meeting professional participants like you. Exchanges will last approximately 8 minutes, after which the next group of 1-3 students will arrive. This type of event gives students maximum exposure to a variety of professionals enabling them to explore various career paths, discuss pertinent issues and learn from each of your experiences.

Where and when is Clark’s event?

Please mark your calendar for October 18, 2007. The event will be held on the Clark University campus in Worcester, Massachusetts from 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm at Dana Commons.

Who will be involved?

Matt Goldman, Clark ’83 and co-founder of Blue Man Group, will keynote this year’s event. Though we can’t yet confirm who will attend, invitations to participate in the speed networking session have been sent to professionals of diverse backgrounds and fields. The list includes well-known authors, retail owners, non-profit leaders, magazine publishers, television personalities, theatre professionals and more.

How many students are expected to attend? What is their background?

We anticipate between 125–200 students who will bring diverse backgrounds in the arts: from art history to literature, music to studio arts, visual and performing arts to screen studies. Some students will have declared majors or minors in these fields, others will be trying to learn more about possible career fields and still others may attend to take advantage of Clark’s commitment to bringing outside professionals onto campus and to gain exposure to the caliber of local and national professionals Clark brings to campus.

Will I be reimbursed for my time?

No, but you will have an opportunity to introduce people to your music. In addition to the speed networking session, you will be able to showcase albums and introduce your work to event participants.

How do I get involved?

To participate in the speed networking event, we need your commitment by Sept. 28, 2007. Please send an email clark@matternow.com or call 978-499-9250 x 227.

If you’d like to participate in another way, contact us and we can discuss alternatives. Promotion, funding, mentoring of students, guest lectures are all ways other community leaders, artists and entrepreneurs have been involved in the I&E program.

What’s next?
Upon receiving your confirmation, we will send additional information. We will also send information to help prepare you for the speed networking session such as sample questions, ice breakers, etc.
