Oklahoma’s very own idol Carrie Underwood will be inducted into its’ Music Hall of Fame in September according to her official website. The Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame announced Underwood as one of its’ newest inductees at a news conference at the Tulsa Press Club. Underwood, who is the ACM Entertainer of the Year, will perform at the induction ceremony and concert on Sept. 17.
She will be inducted at the 13th annual event along with fellow Oklahoma native artists Rocky Frisco and Ramona Reed. “All three of this year’s inductees are worthy recipients of this honor. Each is recognized world wide for their musical talent, and we are proud that each calls Oklahoma home”, said Max Boydstun, Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame Board Chair.
“We are especially proud to induct our own Oklahoma idol Carrie Underwood and to offer the public a chance to experience the performances of all three inductees to celebrate their contribution to Oklahoma music history and culture,” Boydstun added.
This will not be the first time Underwood will be honored into a hall of fame. In 2008, she became the youngest artist to be inducted into the legendary Grand Ole Opry. This should not come as a surprise though as since Underwood released her debut album Some Hearts in 2005, she has been making music history left and right. Some Hearts is the best-selling female solo debut album in country music history and the fastest selling debut country album in soundscan history. She is also the first country artist in history to have all their singles from their first two albums reach #1 on the music charts. The former American Idol has also got four Grammy awards under her belt.
Now Carrie Underwood can add being a member of the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame to her long list of accomplishments.
