Jimmy LaFave |
House Concerts to host LaFave
Eureka House Concerts will open its 2009 Fall Season with one of folk music's most acclaimed artists, Jimmy LaFave. Known for his haunting, plaintive, tenor voice, a sampling of Jimmy's accolades boast two consecutive Austin Music Awards for Best Singer-Songwriter, numerous Kerrville Folk Festival Singer-Songwriter awards and reviews by the Associated Press, VH--1, Billboard and Playboy. He's performed on Austin City Limits, played the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tribute to Woody Guthrie and the induction of Woody into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame plus multiple appearances on NPR's Mountain Stage. One of the highlights of his career was when Bruce Springsteen invited Jimmy on stage for a duet. When the Boss recognizes an artist in that manner, what more needs be said about his talent?
Jimmy is savvy about surrounding himself with accomplished musicians and standing back to let them do their thing. Wednesday, Sept. 9, John Inman, lead guitar, and Bryan Peterson, keyboard will accompany Jimmy for a show no music lover should miss.
To catch a sample of Jimmy's sound, check out www.lonestarmusic.com. Better yet, hear him at the Elk Street Church at 17 Elk St. Doors open at 7 p.m. Admission is $15 and seating in the non-smoking, multigenerational venue is limited. "Remember, we'll have you home by 10."
