I received some helpful advice from a friend of mine last week describing how I should have first told you’all about the show we have planned for Aril 6th.
ROBERT EARL KEEN
FRIDAY APRIL 6th AT SNORTY HORSE
Got it. Tickets should be available soon if there not already.
Got to get out of my element last week and spend some time at the 5-H ranch with John D. Hale and his family. Some of you may have heard me tell the story about the buffalo ranch by my house and how people like to ride a paint horse and chase buffalo naked with a bow and arrow. Well, you don’t need a paint horse at John’s house…they got painted buffalo, so you can just chase them on a bay horse. You also ought to try and take a leak next to a 40 ft giraffe. It’ll try and pull your shirt off before you get done pissin’.
They had a show at this bar in Columbia, Mo for the GDI’s, which is kind of an independent ag frat house on Thursday. I got to jump in the van and go with them, being as though Columbia is one of my favorite towns, I expected nothing less then a throw down good time. Hence the night should have been billed “THE JOHN D. HALE BAND and STEVE GREENE MAKING AN ASS OF HIMSELF” supporting. Yup, they let me sing “Snake Farm” in front of about 1400 people. A torn down banner and a ripped pair of jeans later, I discovered the only reason I wasn’t asked to leave is because most of the bouncers had been to the Snorty Horse before and knew what to expect. I got to quit doin’ that shit so much.
Shows were good all weekend. The pink guitar brought $720. It was purchased by a combination of people which included The Scorpion Choppers, 5-H Ranch, Pinager Limosine, and The Snorty Horse. We all decided to leave the guitar here and continue to let artist sign it and auction it off again in about 6 months.
Saturday night, Slim played slid guitar with a stuffed Marlin. It was worth coming just to see that.
WED. MAR. 14th: ALLEN ROSS and the “Not So Special Drink Special.” $1 yard beers among other stuff including those funky drinks that Jake makes that the girls like so much. I never thought Pabst and Stag “steak tators and gravy in a can” would sell so damn good!
THUR. MAR. 15th: COWBOY TOY ROPIN. We will be giving the buckle away. There will be 2 high money winners that will rope in a shoot out on the following Saturday on the stage, under the lights. No Pressure. This has been a fun night and I’m glad it’s working out. We might use a fastlane for next months series, which is just a bit bigger.
FRI. MAR. 16th: ADAM HOOD with CODY WALKER. Adam Hood has become a favorite here at the horse. He’s got a full band now and I’ve heard its pretty awesome stuff. He just got done with a Texas tour that was called 28 shows in 28 days for the month of Feb. This guy is an Alabama native, but will drive anywhere from coast to coast. He has also got to play with Leon Russell a bunch. He’s got 2 CD’s out now and I understand that a third is on its way. If you get a chance, buy the 21 and over CD. It is acoustic and I promise you will love it forever and it will be one of your most prized CD’s. Here is your chance to check him out live!
It’s also a good chance to see Cody play on a weekend also. I understand that there will be bank tellers everywhere!
Tickets are $6.
SAT. MAR. 17th: ST. PATRICK’s DAY with The MARK CHAPMAN BAND! What better party band to pair up with a rowdy holiday like this. The entire staff is going to change their nationality to Irish for one day. That and we’re all bound to drink something green! Every show Mark has done here has been bigger and better then the last one, and it’s always a good sign when people are calling begging for tables to be reserved. I do know that several big groups will be coming to celebrate birthdays, St. Paty’s day, etc. It will be an awesome night!
Tickets are $7.
Had several request for Kurt South and we kind of got lucky in that he will be passing through on Thursday the 22nd.
BIG SMITH with Cindy Woolf on the 23rd.
RECKLESS KELLY with MICKEY and the MOTORCARS on WED. MAR. 28th. We have had problems with Paypal on our homepage to purchase tickets, but it is working if you go through the concert calendar page. The problem should be fixed soon.
And of course ROBERT EARL KEEN on April 6th. This show will be in the big room with Ryan Bingham. Tickets will be available soon if they’re not already.
Thanks,
Steve Greene
