Norman Songwriters, artist in harmony
Standing Buffalo Indian Art Gallery introduced the idea of combining live music with live painting last year. Now others are hopping on board. From 6 to 8 p.m. today, songwriters Michael Bendure and Seth McDonald will team up with artist and Norman Arts Council director Rick Fry to host a live music and paint event at Cafe Plaid, 333 W Boyd St., on Campus Corner.
Bendure and McDonald will perform original and cover tunes while Fry paints images of Oklahoma landscapes.
"I’ve dreamed for years of combining live music with live art activities,” Bendure said. "Rick Fry is a good friend and fixture in the Norman arts culture. When he mentioned he would like to join us sometime, I was thrilled to get his participation. I hope this concert will ignite interest in other local artists to join live musicians in the future.”
Fry took over as executive director of the Norman Arts Council last year. In May he was honored as celebrated artist at the Assistance League of Norman’s May Fair Arts Festival.
