Laying the groundwork for a weekend rich in diversity, This Week in Film & Music is showing its eclectic side. Also known as Diversafest, DFEST Music Conference and Festival takes over Tulsa's Blue Dome District with a variety of independent artists and thousands of fans. The colorful world of racing and drivers with one-track minds are spotlighted in Cameron University's world premiere of the documentary One Dream: Dirt Track Racing. From the punk rock of Joan Jett to the red dirt of Stoney LaRue, the Eufala Cove Amphitheatre will feature a night of raucous and multi-faceted outdoor entertainment. Savor your weekend, because this melting pot has assorted flavors.

One Dream: Dirt Track Racing
As a part of Cameron University's Producing the Documentary summer course, Executive Producer and professor Dr. Matt Jenkins has helped students make award-winning documentaries for the last decade. The latest project in this tradition is the class's most ambitious venture yet, One Dream: Dirt Track Racing. Through partnerships with NASCAR, the World of Outlaws and several local tracks and drivers, the film focuses on the highs and lows of this thunderous sport and features interviews with driving champions.

Peter Frampton

Herb & Dorothy
In the early 1960s, when very little attention was paid to Minimalist and Conceptual Art, postal clerk Herbert Vogel and his librarian wife Dorothy quietly began purchasing the works of unknown artists, many of whom were not yet appreciated for their vision. After 30 years, the couple had accumulated over 2,000 pieces valued at millions of dollars. Featuring interviews from Christo and Jeanne-Claude, Robert Mangold, Sol Le Witt and more, first-time director Megumi Sasaki's documentary details the Vogel's remarkable story and how they came to donate their entire collection to the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. Following Sunday's screening, join Associate Curator Alison Amick for a gallery talk about The Dorothy and Herbert Vogel Collection: Fifty Works for Fifty States, an exhibition of 50 works donated by the Vogels to the Oklahoma City Museum of Art.

An Evening with Phil Brown
Former guitarist with Little Feat, Austin singer-songwriter Phil Brown is a music veteran with over 30 years experience and a catalog of over 270 songs. The 2003 album Cruel Inventionsrepresented his first venture as a solo artist, which he continued in 2006 with [the jimi project]. Highly acclaimed for its originality, the tribute album features entirely new renditions of Jimi Hendrix classics mixed with Brown's own bluesy rock, hip hop rhythm, classic guitar and vocals.

The Spy Who Loved Me
The Philbrook Museum of Art is concludes its Summer Films on the Lawn with the 1977 James Bond classic The Spy Who Loved Me, starring Roger Moore as the fictional agent. Winning three Academy Awards, the film follows 007 as he teams up with Russian agent Anya Amasova to stop the reclusive megalomaniac, Stromberg, and his plans to destroy the world and create a new civilization under the sea.

Joan Jett w/ Stoney LaRue
To celebrate the end of Whole Hawg Days' 25th Anniversary, the Eufala Cove Amphitheatre presents Joan Jett and the Blackhearts along with Stoney LaRue and the Arsenals. Legendary rock icon Jett will perform a variety of hits from her catalogue including "I Love Rock 'N Roll" and "I Hate Myself for Loving You." Hollywood Undead
Hailing from Los Angeles, Hollywood Undead credits its rapid rise in popularity to its MySpace page, where the band quickly amassed friends and exposure in early 2005. Wild Women of Jazz: Starr Fisher
The Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame continues its Wild Women of Jazz concert series with Starr Fisher. A seasoned veteran, Fisher has previously served as vocalist for bands like Spectrum and The Wallstreet Band, as well as performances alongside Earl Clark. Now fronting her own band, Phase III, the jazz singer is due to release her debut album in Japan this summer.

Twilight Concert Series: Good Company
The Oklahoma Arts Council continues its 2009 Sunday Twilight Concert Series with the four-piece variety band known as Good Company. Originating in the early 1970s, the group performs anything from 50's pop through today's hits with an eclectic mix of rock, pop, and jazz. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets and chairs to the free outdoor event.
