your two minute management course
An eagle was sitting on a tree resting, doing nothing. A small rabbit saw the eagle and asked him, Can I also sit on my ass like you and do nothing? The eagle answered, Sure, why not. So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the eagle, and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, saw the rabbit, and ate it.
Management Lesson: To be sitting on your ass and doing nothing, you must be sitting very high up. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lesson Two:
A turkey was chatting with a bull. I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree, sighed the turkey, but I haven't! got the energy. Well, why don't you nibble on some of my manure droppings replied the bull. They are packed with nutrients. The turkey pecked at a lump of manure, found it actually gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally, after a fourth night, he was proudly perched at the top of the tree. Soon he was spotted by a farmer, who shot the turkey out of the tree.
Management Lesson: Bull Shit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lesson Three:
A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold the bird froze and fell to the ground in a large field. While it was lying there a cow came by and dropped some dung on it. As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, it began to realize how warm it was. The dung was actually thawing him out. He lay there all warm and happy and soon began to sing for joy. A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.
Management Lessons: 1) Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy. 2) Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend. 3) When you're in deep shit, it is best to keep your mouth shut! This concludes your two minute management course.

Micky and the Motor Cars - Ragweed
Last night was an amazing show at the House Of Blues in Las Vegas.
Micky and the Motor Cars came out at 8 played for a solid 45 minutes
of non-stop rocking. Played an amazing cover of Lawyers, Guns, and
Money. Following their set, Ragweed came on at about 9:30 and played
until 11:45. Another typical high energy rock your balls off show. I
have to admit, other than the music, I really enjoy the quick little
tidbits of where the song comes from, similar to the Back to Tulsa cd
when Cody introduces each song. Its really to cool to hear how he
came up with the song, or what inspired it. Anyone looking to plan a
vacation to Vegas look to come out August 2nd, that is when Cody said
the band would be back.
set list as best as I can

*NSYNC SUED FOR $10 MILLION A lawsuit filed yesterday accuses the boy-band and their label, Jive Records, of ripping off a song by an unknown singer-songwriter. The artist, Troy Alexander, claims *NSYNC's 2001 hit "Celebrity" is "substantially similar" to the demo track he played in 1990 for the label. Jive says they were unaware of the claim and have not been served any papers. | |

Good weekend. Leon and Cory Morrow was great. Cory did a full band acoustic show that blew everyone away. I think they should really do that stuff more often.
This week:
WED. MAY 9th: OPEN MIC/ SONGWRITTER SWAP! Yup, I think its time to start doing this again. I have had several requests for open mic for a long time. We used to do it at the old bar and it worked out great. Thats how I found Cole, Cody, Jared Hicks, Derrick Tiller and several others. If you want to play, just come on with your guitar or whatever else you may play. Please dont make things to complicated cause Im running sound and I pretty much suck at it. We do have house sound, mics, monitors, etc. and feel free to call me with any questions. Depending on how many musicians show up will depend on how long you get to play. The catch in all this is to bring as many drinkin buddies, friends, family, whatever it takes to get bodies in the door to earn yourself a weekly gig or an opening slot for a bigger act. ANYTHING GOESwhich means you do what you want to do as long as no genitals are exposed. TranslationNo one is going to tell you what to play unless someone from the audience is shouting out request, and if that happens, make them tip you. It can be as fun as you guys or gals want to make it. Might even talk Kenny Deforest into bringin out his comedy routine. Dont WorryWe are still going to have the Not So Special Drink Special. Expect us to have Open Mic/Songwriter Swap the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month.
THUR. MAY 10th: The RANDY ROGERS BAND with RED DIRT UNDERGROUND!!! Look how good and how far the Randy Rogers Band has gone in the last year and a half. This will be one of the shows that were lucky to get every once in awhile. These guys are all over the radio/ except in Springfield, MO, all over CMT and GAC, have won numerous awards with their new album Just a Matter of time which was their 5th album. This is one of the bands that defines the Snorty Horse Saloon. Dont miss this one!!! I dont know how much longer Ill be able to afford them!
Brian Lumley and RED DIRT UNDERGROUND will be opening. When Brians not playing somewhere, hes at the Snorty Horse. He loves it here and he knows everybody and has a great little three piece band that does pretty much anything you want to hear with some really good originals. Its going to be a good night!!!
You can buy tickets online for this one for $12.
FRI. MAY 11th: The SHOTGUN BROTHERS: Going to change things up a bit again with a cool bluegrass band on speed. Shotgun Brothers is what happens when a traditional bluegrass band meets the Grateful Dead. Im as curious as you guys are on this one and Im definitely looking foreword to it. I met Pik, their lead guy at the Brandon Jenkins show. He loved the bar and became an instant Jenkins fan also. Tix are $5.
SAT. MAY 12th: FULL THROTTLE is finally back with JACKSON PARTON!!! Full Throttle is one of those that you just got to see. They are a three piece heavy blues band that will blow the roof off of this place. They are some of the most talented group of musicians who have walked through the door. I just think their great. They have been on tour with Ragweed and are a good fit with those guys just cause they are so fast paced and energetic. The last time they played at our old bar was maybe the most fun I had had out there. There was a private birthday party with some really fun people that eventually got out of hand in a good kind of way. You guys will have to look up one of my old diary pages on that night. The party eventually moved to my house after the bar closed and it really got out of hand. Trust meI will write a book someday. Tix are $7.
Remember, tickets are also available for STONEY LARUE with The BEN MILLER BAND on May 17th
JASON BOLAND on June 1st
Tickets will soon be available for ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL on June 8th and BIG SMITH on June 22nd.
Thanks,
Steve Greene
