Chance Anderson

Texas Talent To Hit Oklahoma and Kansas

Very rarely do young, solo artists become as successful in the first few years of their career as Chance Anderson. The singer/songwriter who hails from Denton, TX, will be on tour promoting his debut, self-titled album starting May 19. Anderson recorded and produced his album at the Dirty Bird Studio in Norman, Oklahoma, which is run by Mike McClure and Travis Linville.

McClure became a household name among Texas country and red dirt fans with his former band, The Great Divide and currently, self-titled, Mike McClure Band. He’s produced albums for Cross Canadian Ragweed and Jason Boland & The Stragglers, just to name a few.

Anderson’s music can be described as a mixture of Texas country, red dirt, rock, Americana and folk, with a hint of blues thrown in for good measure. Before breaking out on his own, he was the lead vocalist for the Stillwater, OK band, The Greedless Band. The Greedless Band had just started undergoing success (performing in Oklahoma and Texas and getting airplay on 105.5 Cowboy Country in Stillwater) when the band was in a horrific car accident, killing drummer, Garrett Kennedy. Following the tragic event, Anderson wrote his hit song, “Deal With It,” which describes the difficult truth of overcoming death and similar tragedies. Anderson supports and performs every summer at the Garrett Kennedy Memorial Concert in Pampa, TX. This year, the concert will take place June 7.

On a lighter note, his newest songs, “Gulf Coast Nights,” “Just Like I Knew You Would” and “My Song,” have already begun getting several plays on myspace.com, as well. Although young, Anderson’s talent in writing deep, truthful, sometimes gut wrenching lyrics proves that he’s an old soul. His music has entertained and inspired fans of all ages and from different walks of life. He’s recently opened shows for Johnny Cooper, as well.

Anderson’s tour will start in Oklahoma City, May 19 at Tapwerks, followed by a performance Thursday, May 22 at Carmelita’s in Highland Village, TX. Friday, May 23, Anderson will begin his journey north. While on tour, he will be performing in Stillwater, Tulsa, Miami and Tahlequah, OK, Fayetteville, AR, Parsons, Oswego, Cherokee and Wichita, KS, and Cassville, MO.

Fans north of the Red River will have several chances to see Anderson play while on tour, so schedule some time to support live music by watching a Chance Anderson acoustic concert.
