THE BART CROW BAND’S 4TH ANNUAL MUSIC FOR MIKA EVENT RAISES THOUSANDS FOR CHILDREN’S CHARITY!

Nashville, TN-November 20, 2008-“Music For Mika is one of the most important gifts that music has allowed me to be a part of.  I created this event simply to bring a smile to the faces of my dearest friends who found the courage and strength to let the Lord guide them through a heartbreaking time in their lives.” Bart Crow has seen Music For Mika grow considerably over the last four years from a small town gathering to a significant annual event that generates thousands of dollars in the name of charity. Mika Michele Terry passed away on June 23, 2005 at the age of 6 months in a tragic accident. She was the youngest daughter to Mikey and Michele Terry. The 4th annual Music For Mika event headlined by the Bart Crow Band was held on Saturday, October 11th in Maypearl, Texas bringing in over 2000 supporters and raising $38,000.  It was a night of stellar music featuring the Bart Crow Band and other Texas acts including the Mike McClure Band, 1100 Springs, Kyle Hunt Band, Joey Green Band, The Coalmen and The Cannon’s.  A large percentage of the proceeds were donated to KIDS AND CARS, a national nonprofit child safety organization dedicated to preventing injuries and death to children in non-traffic, non-crash motor vehicle related events. The organization has been pioneering a national movement since 1999 to raise awareness of such incidents as well as lobbying through Congress for government policy changes. These regulations include a power window safety standard, driver reminder system and rearward visibility standard. President and founder, Janette Fennell, has received numerous national awards for her efforts and is a well sought out expert in the non-traffic field in the major media. “Music For Mika and the Terry family has been very helpful in raising awareness about the dangers children face in and around motor vehicles. They have worked hard to meet with legislators and have also provided financial support to help move forward our agenda.” In addition to KIDS AND CARS, a portion of the proceeds will also go to a scholarship fund in Mika’s name to help a Maypearl high school senior go to college.  For more information visit http://www.kidsandcrs.org/.

“We were glad to be a part of the Music For Mika festival this year. It always feels good to be able to play music and raise money for others. I know when my daughter had her tumor operation, the music community stood behind me and helped pay off all of her doctor bills. Music For Mika was another example of musicians coming together to a do a little good in the world. That's never a bad thing.”                          - Mike McClure/Mike McClure Band

“Being involved with Music For Mika has been an inspiration for 1100 Springs. To see so many artists and fans come together in support of such an important cause is the greatest affirmation of the family atmosphere in Texas Music.”

                                                  - Matt Hilliyar, 1100 Springs
