Cellist Carter Brey, currently the principal cellist of the New York Philharmonic as well as an acclaimed soloist, will perform the Cello Concerto by Edward Elgar in concert with Bartlesville Symphony Orchestra Saturday.
The concert is presented as a tribute to Spencer Prentiss, one of the founders of the Bartlesville orchestra and for many years its principal cellist. Prentiss, who died in 2005, would have been 100 this year.
In addition to Brey's performance, the concert will feature the Bartlesville Community Chorus performing "Nanie" by Brahms, and the "Consecration of the House" Overture by Beethoven and the Symphony No. 8 by Dvorak.
The concert is at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Bartlesville Community Center, Adams Boulevard and Cherokee Avenue. Tickets are at $30 for adults and $15 for students and available by calling (800) 618-2787.
