Snorty Horse Saloon

My buddy Adamo from Italy made it across the big pond to check out the bar last weekend. He was the one wearing the keystone helmet and doing “the robot” dance. Mr. Adam Hood was nice enough to let Adamo play a John Denver song and another Italian song during his break. People love John Denver in Italy.

Congratulations to NICK AVERY for winning the Snorty Horse buckle at the Cowboy Toy Ropin’. The pot was the biggest it has ever been and we had no trouble getting enough to pay for the buckle and to award the ropers some $$$. We will have another one next month and a buckle will be givin’ away for one ropin’ only! So come on and plan on winning!

Saturday with Mark Chapman was off the hook!!! His shows continue to get bigger and better.

WED. MAR. 21st: COLE PORTER and a bunch of his buddies. (That sounds like a good band name.) We decided to change things up a bit before Mr. Allen Ross got too busy with lake stuff for the summer; and we decided to mix it up a bit. I’ve wanted to kind of dedicate a night for some of the college people and Wednesdays are making the most sense to do something like that. Cole always does a hell of a job and he will have everyone cracking up. If you never seen Cole play, he kind of is a mix between Rodney Carrington and Larry the Cable Guy. Except Cole can sing. Its $2 to get in and you get $1 yard beers, $3 jagur shots and we are going to run some killer drink specials on those funky drinks that Jake makes for the girls.

THUR. MAR. 22nd: KURT SOUTH and NICK WIGGS. I have actually been getting a bunch of people asking about Kurt South. He is from and lives in Texas and has been a part of that music scene for years. I’ve listened to his music and was impressed. There are some unfortunate events that happened with Kurt and a record that was produced several years ago that was an awesome record, but actually set him back. I haven’t heard the whole story, but I’m excited to ask him about it.
Nick Wiggs used to play at the old bar all the time until he had to move back to the boot heal. It will be good to have him back. This will be a good night to get a healthy dose of some awesome acoustic music.
Oh Yea…$2 whiskeys!

FRI. MAR. 23rd: BIG SMITH with CINDY WOOLF! Big Smith is one of those legendary kind of bands that makes me feel very lucky to have them play here. They just got done with “Bluegrass and Bar B Que” that was held at Juanita K. Hammons Center for the Performing Arts and is one of the biggest music events that occurs at that facility. They also came close to selling out Georges in Fayetteville, AR two nights in a row. The list goes on and on for their achievements and also includes a documentary film about Big Smith and other things related to bluegrass music. Just because they got a long resume doesn’t make them a good party band ‘cause whenever these guys play…people drink the hell out of beer! This is going to be a fun and big night for us! Tickets are only available at the door the day of the show and are $10.

SAT. MAR. 24th: BONNIE BISHOP with MATT STELL! Bonnie is a cool chick and she can put those American Idol girls to shame. She is probably one of the most successful female artist touring right know from Texas. She gained a lot of her singing abilities from doing musicals in high school and college. After you meet her, you will quickly realize that this girl was made for the road and not some fancy play. She’s tough, to the point, and at the same time…very likeable. Especially her show. It would best be described as blues, but not your typical Delta type blues. Just come check it out if you haven’t heard her before or at least buy a CD. This would also be a good show to bring a date to. Don’t get me wrong, this girl rocks, but she has some love songs that will be sure to get you laid.
Really good to have MATT STELL back also. He doesn’t know it yet, but I think you can expect to see him play more during the week. I feel like these two people are a really good combo of music for one night. They both have that bluesy almost mesmerizing sound. Hope everyone can make it to this one! Tickets will be $7.

Mar. 28th: RECKLESS KELLY with MICKEY and the MOTORCARS. You know, Reckless Kelly will probably play here again in the next 6 months, and so will Mickey and the Motorcars…but chances are they will never play here again together. Here’s your chance to see something very cool.

30th is ELI YOUNG BAND… All the hot girls have been bugging me to get these guys in.

31st is RED DIRT RANGERS… We missed these guys and are really ready to get them back. Got RENEGADE RAIL supporting. Going to be an awesome show!

APRIL 6th: ROBERT EARL KEEN!!!!! What else can I say but buy a ticket!
