Snorty Horse Saloon

First of all, I need to apologize for "skipping" a week's newsletter. Please let me defend myself as to why I failed to post last week's newsletter. First of all, I was bad sick after the Shooter show and I am a big fat box when it comes to being sick. I knew I had to be ready for our two year ‘cause it was going to be a train wreck. I did survive, however, and had another opportunity to jump in the van with John D. and head to Nashville, TN. Nashville you say??? The big corporate music monster we are all trying to avoid influence from? Yes, that's the one...and I had a blast!!! Huge eye opening experience for me. Got to meet some people who I do business with over the phone but never got the opportunity to meet in person. The first bar we hit was a brewing co. at one end of the boulevard and just started bar hopping from then out. As it darker, the street got louder. There was a band playing on every corner where you could stick a stage. I never thought it could be so saturated with acts as high of caliber as these people were. I found that the better bar's for me were the one's that you had to pay to get in, which does make sense, but most of these bars were harder to find and were "off the beaten path." My favorite venue was The MERCY LOUNGE. The "Legendary Shack Shakers" were playing which is a band that has history playing in Springfield, MO and originally did a show with HANK III a few years ago. They are a hard core rockabilly band who is freakin' nuts! I loved it. Not only the show, but every where we went people were extremely nice and helpful and all and all just fun people to hang with from the huge door guy to the sexy hot bar tenders. I must admit, the trip makes me think twice about ever saying "Nashville sucks" again. I recommend going and checking it out for yourself if you've never been.

WED. OCT. 17th: CHASE INNIS and "NOT SO SPECIAL DRINK SPECIAL!" Unfortunately Cole, Cody, and Hutch are going to take a much deserved night off, so we have Chase to pick up the pieces. It's basically going to be the same thing only different. You Wednesday night regular's know what I am sayin'. $3.

THUR. OCT. 18th: SHANGRALA with APOLLO'S GIFT and THE SPRING'S!!! This is going to be a rock your face off night! We've added the Spring's to the bill since the last time Shangrala played here. I really like their stuff. Take some time and check it out. You'll like it. Apollo's gift is based out of Neosho and is a hell of a three piece band. Not very many rock bands' that can pull it off being a three piece, but these guys make it look easy. And of course Shangrala who has a mixture of originals and some really cool old school tunes from Guns & Roses to Metallica. Remember that whiskey night is in effect and what I call girly drinks (fruity foo foo drinks) will be included. I guess we'll call it whiskey and girly foo foo drink night! Ask the bartender about it when you get here and they'll treat you right!!! $5 to get in.

FRI. OCT. 19th: CADILLAC SKY with the ARKOMO RANGERS!!! Cadillac Sky is described as a "sensitive string band on steroids." A bluegrass band wrapped up in tradition but not bound by it. I like the sound of that. Cadillac Sky has been touring for four year's now and is probably the hottest most requested bluegrass band at any festival or bluegrass function in the U.S. A big thanks to HIGH STRUNG MUSIC for bringing us this show. Not only is this a must see show, but it looks awful good on the credentials list to have a band of this caliber play at our bar. There bio goes on forever, but if you're any kind of a bluegrass fan you need to check it out. Then again, if your any kind of a bluegrass fan, you're a Cadillac Sky fan. Also, check out the new TEXAS MUSIC MAGIZINE in which Cadillac Sky has a featured article.

ARKOMO RANGERS are playing also. The Arkomo Rangers are based out of Springfield, and are a big draw any where they play at from here to Colorado. Having just been picked up by HELLO BOOKING, these guys are fixin' to hit the road hard and we'll be lucky to see a show in their hometown in the future.

FYI...there are fans driving very far distances to see this show including Colorado, Ohio, the Dakotas, Illinois, Iowa, Arkansas and Tennessee. That's just what I've seen so far. You can get your tickets off our website or you can pick up physical tickets at HIGH STRUNG MUSIC which is in downtown Springfield. They're $15.

SAT. OCT. 20th: RENEGADE RAIL with ROAN COUNTY SPLIT!!! O.K. Back Porch Mary played here a few months ago and we declared it White Trash Night. People went nuts over it. Probably 2/3rds of the people that showed up were influenced by their white trash heritage in both appearance and demeanor. I've had several requests to do it again and with Halloween approaching, why not do it again! RENEGADE RAIL is one of the few bands who can live up to the high expectations as to be the guys providing the entertainment for "WHITE TRASH NIGHT!!!" So it's time to dig out your wife beaters and mesh hats and purchase a refreshing STAG beer. Mullets and cut off jeans are also welcome.

A quick story...There used to be a bar in down town Kansas City that called Johnny Dares I believe that made the upstairs look like a trailer house. On your way up the stairs there was a picture of a pregnant girl wearing a cut off white T shirt smoking a cigarette leaned up against a big propane tank. I just thought it was hilarious and had to tell you about it and it was a big influence on establishing White Trash Night. ROAN COUNTY SPLIT will be playing also. These two bands split the bill before and it was pretty damn wild. If you just want to go out and have fun and enjoy good company, good tunes, and a cold beverage...this is the night for you!

I better order some extra yard beers for this one.

ALSO... for those of you that don't know this already, The SNORTY HORSE and The JOHN D. HALE BAND are teaming up and giving you one of the best lineups Missouri has every seen at an unlikely venue that is actually perfect for what we are going to pull off. FLICKERWOOD ARENA in JACKSON, MO is going to host this year's 1st annual "LOUDEST SHOW ON DIRT!"

BILLY JOE SHAVOR, CHRIS KNIGHT, CORB LUND, JOHN D. HALE BAND, and THE DIRTY THIRTIES are going to keep the night hopin' at one of Missouri's most premier indoor rodeo arena's...hence the name, loudest show on dirt. The event will take place on OCT. 27th. Doors will open at 3 P.M. and music will start around 4:00 with the Dirty Thirties. Jackson is located in the boot heal of Missouri and we are getting tons of airplay and advertising in that part of the world. You can buy tickets off our website or John D's website and there is a myspace page dedicated to this event. Physical tickets can also be purchased at several locations around the Cape/Jackson area which are listed on "THE LOUDEST SHOW ON DIRT" Myspace page. Or you can call the bar or email me for more info.

Also, JASON BOLAND and the STRAGGLERS on NOV. 10th. Tix available soon.

JOHNNY COOPER just confirmed for NOV. 3rd.

FLU FIGHTERS ARE IN YOUR FUTURE!!! STAY TUNED!!!

Steve Greene
