National recording artist Lucinda is recognized not only as a talented singer-songwriter but also as an expert in being a successful DIY artist in today’s new music business. Both GoGirlsMusic.com and the Fret Buzz Podcast recently featured Lucinda, who happily discussed her business acumen as well as her creative side.

When asked about how she goes about building her audience by Madalyn Sklar, Founder/Publisher of GoGirlsMusic.com, Lucinda admitted to “hard work” and “[being] as industrious as possible and bring[ing] our music into places that might not ordinarily have music. We have performed many acoustic shows in Garden Centers outside in the Greenhouses while people shopped. In florists on Valentine's Day while the line went out the door with guys buying roses for their sweethearts (they also picked up my CD to go with the roses!)” She also gave shared her top three tips on establishing a successful grassroots following; to read GoGirlsMusic.com’s feature story on Lucinda, visit www.gogirlsmusic.com.

On Ed Lozano’s Fret Buzz Podcast, which can be downloaded from www.lightninglicks.com, Lucinda discussed the importance of engaging an audience and using technology as a back up to the connection made by a live performance. With 45,000 CDs sold at live shows in the last five years, Lucinda has become an expert on knowing her target market, and she books her shows accordingly. Her over 30 audience still purchases CDs, and she understands the importance of reaching and keeping that vital audience.

Lucinda’s current single, “How Do You Feel” is at AC radio now. Her previous single “Gemini Moon” enjoyed national airplay at the format. With a voice as strong as any female singer of today, Lucinda says she's not trying to out-diva the likes of Christina Aguilera, Beyonce’, Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton, Mariah Carey, or Janet Jackson. Instead, she hopes to capture the hearts and ears of a sophisticated adult audience that is into Shawn Colvin, Carly Simon, Bonnie Raitt, and Sheryl Crow.

Lucinda runs a successful lecture series geared to national and regional songwriters associations called “Building Your Career – A Grassroots Approach.” She is also in demand as a guest speaker in college classes focusing on the performing arts.
A portion of the sales of Lucinda's new CD Aquamarine will go to LIFEbeat, 'The Music Industry Fights AIDS.' Lucinda is a proud volunteer in LIFEbeat's Hearts and Voices program. According to the organization's website, 'Lifebeat's Hearts and Voices program brings the gift of live music to thousands of people living with AIDS at facilities throughout New York City including hospitals, hospices, residential facilities, and treatment centers. Every week, talented musicians from all musical genres volunteer their time to play shows for the most appreciative of audiences…Celebrity performers who have participated include Destiny's Child, LL Cool J, Edwin McCain, Jewel, Ethan Hawke, City High, John Secada, and Floetry, among others.' Lucinda was the recipient of an Outstanding Service Award for her work with the organization.
