Alternative rock band Lifehouse will perform Friday at Cain’s Ballroom, with the midway state opening.

Lifehouse gained record fame in 2000 with the hit single “Hanging By a Moment” from their debut album, “No Name Face.” The single won a Billboard Music Award for Hot 100 Single of the Year, beating out Janet Jackson and Alicia Keys for the No.1 single of 2001.

The band is currently touring in support of its fourth album in seven years, “Who We Are,” released earlier this year.

“We just love making music and feel really lucky to be able to continue doing it,” said singer-wongwriter Jason Wade.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $23.25, available at Starship Records & Tapes, Reasor’s Customer Service, Cain’s box office or by calling (866) 443-8849.

Get loose, loud and crazy with Kevin Fowler

From pubs to arenas, from dance halls to county fairs, Kevin Fowler always delivers rocking, full-flavored Texas country.

He will perform his hits, as well as material from his new album, “Bring It On,” at the Bob’s Stage at Cain’s Ballroom on Sunday. His anthems include “Beer, Bait, and Ammo,” “The Lord Loves a Drinking Man” and “Loose, Loud and Crazy.”

A native of Amarillo, Texas, who grew up listening to Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard, Fowler rounded out his musical education in Los Angeles attending the Guitar Institute of Technology, and then returned to Texas to join the award-winning hard rock band Dangerous Toys.

Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $19, available at Starship Records & Tapes, Reasor’s Customer Service, Cain’s box office or by calling (866) 443-8849.

Local musician scores on MySpaceTV Video

Local artist Malan Darras, whose former band Rewake was just inducted into the Spot Music Awards Hall of Fame, continues to make and break records in his solo career. His project, the Malan Darras Orchestra, this week released a video, “Ink Blot,” from the highly-acclaimed “Who Is Malan D?” 2007 release.

It almost immediately hit No. 1 on the MyspaceTV Video Charts Oct. 30, with more than 110,000 views in one day. The video was filmed at the awards show on Oct. 20 by Ryan Rhoades and edited by the Orchestra’s own Cody Bailey for Droptest Productions. In June, the single “shesadisease,” from the same album, made it to No. 1 on XM Radio’s XMU Channel 43 RADAR Report for most popular pop song by an unsigned artist.

Alt-rockers reinvent themselves, return to Tulsa

Cracker, with openers Jason Isbell and the 400 Foot Unit will perform Saturday at Blank Slate, 230 E. First Street St., in downtown Tulsa.

The band is an alternative country band fronted by former Camper Van Beethoven singer (and Cracker co-founder) David Lowery. They are best known for their hit songs “Low,” “Eurotrash Girl” and “Teen Angst (What the World Needs Now).”

The band’s Web site once said Cracker was “the only band to ever open for both The Grateful Dead and the Ramones,” a unique distinction that also is indicative of the band’s sound and style.

Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale at Starship Records and Tapes for $17 each, cash only, or $20 at the door.

Christy Clayton, gettin’ Dirty

After being selected to perform at Dfest in July, Texas musician Christy Clayton returns to Tulsa to once again perform at Dirty’s Tavern in the Blue Dome District on Friday.

This time, she has caught the attention of a local radio station. KVOO 98.5 FM will be at Dirty’s, Second Street and Elgin Avenue, to interview Clayton after the show.

The show is part of Clayton’s “Breakin the Rules” tour.

“I’m excited about each and every show on this tour – it’s a lot of unexplored territory for us,” Clayton said. The show starts at 10 p.m. Call 551-7660 for more information. Tickets are $5.
