TuneCore Submits Music Discovery iPhone Application

ATTENTION iPHONE APP USERS:  Soon, in addition to reminiscing with old arcade games and showing off your fancy new tip calculator, you will also have access to the brand new TuneCore Discover Music Application!  I'm not an iPhone owner myself, however I got the chance to try the program out and it is really awesome.

In addition to genre based playlists including all TuneCore users and access to TuneCore's Billboard Top 25, the application utilizes a geo-locator that tells you the 25 best selling TuneCore songs based on your exact zip code.  You can organize by genre or enter other cities to learn about their sales data.

TuneCore customers will have the option to make their music available as full streams or thirty second previews.  When a song comes on, listeners will be able to view high resolution artwork, share the music with friends via iPhone email, and have one click access to purchase the song in the iTunes store.

There is no official launch date for the application yet, but you can view the full press release here.

Alex, one of the TC tech guys, mentioned how it would be cool to utilize the Discover Music tool on a tour or road trip, seeing town by town which artists are selling the best.  I'm excited to see how the random playlists of all artists may eventually lead a TuneCore radio station.

Excited for the app?  Got suggestions for future generations?  Share your thoughts here!
