Hi Friends,
We just wrapped up an incredible 36 city North American tour in support of our new EP 'One Day in Brooklyn'! The new album, lineup, and tour have been met with rave reviews from Billboard and Downbeat to The New York Times and the LA Weekly. Thanks to everyone out there who helped make this the best album release tour ever. With sold out shows in San Francisco, Eureka, & Portland we can't wait to get back out West in February. See below for our tour dates as well as recent quotes about the band and EP. If you are interested in helping us spread the word about a show in exchange for a free ticket please email us for more information. We're thrilled to be back in Tulsa to record our 20th album! Yesterday we moved into Natura Digital Recording Studio to begin creating the best JFJO studio album ever. Owned by Grammy Award winning, legendary Tulsa drummer and producer David Teegarden, the studio has been used in classic recordings like JJ Cale's To Tulsa and Back amongst others. Stay tuned to facebook and twitter for more information and an inside look into the session and LP we expect to release in Spring 2010.
Catch up with us online and check the Jazz Millions we've made over the past couple months. Bounce over to our Flickr page and Facebook for a brief visual rundown of September & October including trips to both coasts, Canada, Mike Gordon tour, Halloween, and much more. Speaking of Halloween, some recordings from our Halloween show are now on a free live sampler available when you order a copy of the new CD 'One Day in Brooklyn '. If you've already purchased a copy of ODIB, just send us a picture of yourself holding the album and we'll email you the download link! Email us if you bought the album in digital format and we'll work something out. Everyone can catch a sneak peak of these incredible live tracks by clicking here to download one of the sampler's tracks, Hamby's Window as heard on Halloween in Kansas City. To hear the epic Halloween show in it's entirety check out Cool Music Network for the recording of the whole evening. To get your hands on an additional mp3 sample track, SMS text us with your full name, email address, as well as the city and state in which you live in to phone number 918.850.6905. Once again it's Tulsa for our second consecutive hometown New Year's Eve celebration on December 31st. This year we invite you to enter a time warp and take a step back to the mid-90's for an old school freak out at The Eclipse. Once the regular haunt of early Odyssey's, the band hasn't played the club since 1996! For one night only we will return to destroy The Eclipse once and for all. This will undoubtedly be the last time to ever see us play at such an historic and intimate part of JFJO lore as The Eclipse, so catch it while you can. Special guests are expected. Panda Resistance opens the evening's festivities. Tickets are $20, and with limited space a sell-out is imminent. Also, we're happy to say that we will be supplying the Champagne for the New Year's toast. Can't wait to ring in the new year in Tulsa with all of you (some, in spirit). 2010 is shaping up to be the best year ever. Have a safe and happy holiday season everyone!
Love & Light,
JFJO

"On 'One Day in Brooklyn...you'll hear how creative and adventurous Tulsans, lap steel and all, are redirecting the future of jazz " -Kansas City Star
"They do Monk (a gorgeous "Four in One"), Abdullah Ibrahim, Roland Kirk (a crazier "Black & Crazy Blues" that weaves and darts and cooks), and some Beatles. Their own "Country Girl" is just lovely, a little off the track, languid here, hurried there....Recommended." -LA Weekly
JFJO hits the mark with a tribute to the late producer Joel Dorn on the Rahsaan Roland Kirk medley "A Laugh for Rory / Black & Crazy Blues," a reading of The Beatles "Julia," a stab at Thelonious Monk's "Four in One," and a pair of originals - including a clever mashup of Dr.Dre and Beethoven. JFJO ain't dead, just reborn" -Relix Magazine
"...sonically fascinating take on "Four in One," not unlike the streamlined approach you might expect from Bill Frisell. Rating:9/10" -Jazz.com
"The long notes of Combs' sliding lap steel guitar mix with the emotion that Haas can draw from the deepest corners of his piano, while likely the best rhythm section the Fred has ever unleashed in Raymer and Hayes give a text-book jazz lesson in keeping the parading jam on this universe." -Honest Tune
"JFJO distill the best of 1970s jazz-rock: up-tempo bashing drums, a little bit of funk, and crafty licks..." -The Stranger "The Tulsa, OK-based Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey further cements its status as one of the most forward-thinking units in jazz with its new EP, One Day in Brooklyn." -Popmatters
