Music selection can make, break evening

Music selection can make, break evening

In a perfect world, everyone we have feelings for would return the favor. However, this world is not perfect.

If our feelings are not reciprocated, we experience the other side of Valentine’s Day.

The side that makes single guys and girls hit the Strip or a house party to avoid feeling lonely. I have seen the devastation this side of Feb. 14 can do to a person, specifically women. But there is a bright side.

No matter who is negatively affected, there is always one thing that can lift our spirits: music.

Valentine’s Day can be hell in many ways.

For men, the day means trying to be the perfect boyfriend, buying the most expensive piece of jewelry we can afford, as well as paying for the flowers and dinner.

For women, it means stressing over their appearance, eager to look as good as possible on this special occasion.

No matter what happens, the night always comes to the point when the couples finish their meals and need to decide on what the rest of the night holds for them.

When the guys get the girls back to their pads, they have to make sure to keep them in the mood by having the right clothes, the right cologne and definitely the right music.

For the more intimate part of the evening, the target music should be something with a quiet and soothing melody and a slow bass tone.

Luther Vandross, Marvin Gaye, Barry White and Stevie Wonder are the kings of this genre of music.

In fact, any soul and R&B music can keep people in the mood. If she is not responsive to the classic songs of love-making, then concentrate on the obvious.

Find slower, more feminine songs from artists such as Usher, Ludacris and Boys II Men.

Guys whose ladies enjoy country music have it easier than anyone.

Almost all country singers have songs made for spending time with a loved one. Brooks and Dunn and Hank Williams Sr. would be my personal favorites.

But not everyone will spend the night with a loved one. There are guys who screwed up, women who are lonely and don’t want to rent cheesy romance films and even those who have previously fallen victim to a bad relationship and can’t help but reminisce.

It’s normal to feel lonely when couples are everywhere, suffocating us and clouding our vision.

A lot of lonely people on Valentine’s Day will probably drown their sorrows and lower their inhibitions.

If they choose to go to the bar, they will hear many tunes along with the alcohol specials.

If I chose to spend my Valentine’s Day like this, I would probably drink harsh bourbon while crying to the sounds of 1980s heavy metal ballads until I fell asleep.

Whatever strikes the mood on this lover’s holiday, remember to follow the beat and have fun.
