Local musicians have banded together to help protect northeastern Oklahoma's Illinois River from poultry pollution.

They'll release a full-length compilation CD, "Songs for the Illinois River" at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Roxie's Roost, 16471 Highway 10, just north of U.S. 62 east of Tahlequah.

More than a year in the making, the CD features 15 musical groups.

All album proceeds will benefit Save the Illinois River (STIR), a private, nonprofit organization.

The project includes Randy Crouch, Dan Garber, Badwater, Mike Allen, Kelly Anquoe, Eddie Glenn, Rickey Ray, Donnie Duree, Kathleen McCay, Jamie Saunders, Rick Holderbee, Scott Lawrence, Justin Cooper and Karry Kofr.

The CD sells for $15.95, and is available at Starship Records and Tapes in Tulsa, outlets in the Tahlequah and Lake Tenkiller area, or online at www.tulsaworld.com/RiverSongs.
