Inaugural Texas Wine and Song Festival Hits the Street Oct. 14, 2007

AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Good wine, good food and good music thats the agenda for the Inaugural Texas Wine and Song Festival Sunday, Oct. 14, 1-10 p.m.

Eleven Texas wineries, six restaurants and three live bands will collaborate to present the street festival celebrating Texas Wine Month. The festival will be held in downtown Austin on Second Street between Trinity and San Jacinto, west of the Convention Center.

Admission is $25.00 before the event and $30.00 the day of. Tickets can be purchased at TexasWineandSong.com through PayPal. Complimentary valet parking will be provided by Texas Premiere Parking.

Our purpose is to promote Texas wines and Texas music concurrently, doing so by inviting and educating the public to the virtues of Texas wines by pairing with the best restaurants, chefs and music in our state, said Joshua Coffee, President of the Texas Wine & Song Foundation board of directors.

Llano Estacado joins Fall Creek, Becker Vineyards, Messina Hof, Sister Creek, Flat Creek, Alamosa, Peregrine Hill, Mandola, Inwood, and Driftwood as participating wineries providing both samples and sales of their wines, as well as presentations between band sets.

Restaurants providing food sales in the street include Flemings, Roys, Dona Emilias, The Melting Pot, and Mongolian Grill. Bar sales (inside respective establishments) will be provided by 90 Proof and participating restaurants.

Along with the fabulous array of food and wine, guests will enjoy live music from prominent Texas artists playing adjacent to 90 Proof and Fuegos. Bands include The Band of Heathens, Vallejo, and headlining is Malford Milligan.

Cigar aficionados will enjoy hand-rolled cigars by Bobalu Cigars. AJ Vallejo of Vallejo and John Bagget, head of the LADV Wine Society, will present a cooking demonstration. There also will be a presentation from Master Sommelier Guy Stoudt.

All proceeds from this inaugural non-profit event will benefit the Texas Wine Industry through education grants and scholarships for Texas universities, precisely for the study of Enology and Viticulture. A portion of the proceeds also will benefit the healthcare needs of Texas musicians through the SIMS foundation.
