Interview: Jim Heath of Reverend Horton Heat

For twenty years, Jim Heath and his band of misfits (known collectively as Reverend Horton Heat) have been combining the sweetness of 1950s pop with the sour sounds of punk rock and delivering it with youthful energy and a heavy dose of humor. Rockabilly, psychobilly–call it what you want, but there’s no denying Heath’s talent for penning great rock and roll songs. Heath recently went back into the recording studio and emerged withLaughin’ & Cryin’, a more country-tinged effort that tips a hat to his Texas roots. David Brown talks with Heath about his country influences, his rockabilly image, and Reverend Horton Heat’s current tour withMotorhead.
