Altus_Press Release_The first annual Paul Wilson Memorial "Music for a Cause" and the Parkinson's Foundation of the Heartland are teaming up to present Gayla Earlene's Pure Country Show, Saturday, April 4th, at the Altus City Auditorium, beginning at 7 pm.  T

his event will take place to raise money for Parkinson's research and awareness in memory of the late Paul Wilson. Paul was a well known and respected member of the Altus community and Southwest Oklahoma.  He served as a police officer for the Altus Police Department, as the Jackson County Assessor, and as Sheriff of Jackson County just to name a few.  He was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease later in life and passed away in 2007.

Christian Country artist Gayla Earlene, and her husband Gene Crain along with Mackenzie Hazel, granddaughter of  Paul,will be providing entertainment.  It promises to be a wonderful evening of music and family fun.  Gayla was raised in Inola, OK and began her professional singing career at age 16.  She met her husband, Gene Crain, while in the music business. 

They have performed alongside many well known personalities such as Roy Clark, Mel Tillis, Colin Raye, Crystal Gayle, Josh Turner and others.  They have been guest on radio and TV shows and their music has been played in Europe, Australia, and Africa as well as the US.  They have performed on the Grand Ole Opry as well as the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Gayla's recordings have produced fifteen #1 songs on the Christian Country Charts. 

The band, Pure Country, has won Band of the Year numerous times and individual players have won awards from both the country gospel and well as the country music industry.  Gene and Gayla founded 3G Music, 3G Records, and Crain Three G Music Publishing.

Door prizes will be given away at the concert.  Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at the door the night of the concert or at these businesses in Altus: KEYB Radio, KWHW Radio, Midfirst Bank, Red River Credit Union, or by calling 580-471-5355.
