Interest Heating Up for ACM@UCO

ACM@UCO

Steve Lackmeyer, The Oklahoman’s OKC Development reporter, wrote an article today on the growing interest inACM@UCO by potential students and teachers.

Booker’s updates provide a glimpse of what’s ahead. Industry legends like former Devo lead singer Mark Mothersbaugh and E-Street band member Steven Van Zandt have expressed an interest in teaching.

And one can imagine Booker might be able to pull a few favors from his friends in the Flaming Lips.

Scott Booker, manager of the Flaming Lips and chief executive officer of ACM@UCO, also confirmed to Lackmeyer that the old Ford Model T plant at W. Main Street & N. Fred Jones Avenue is being considered as a future long-term home for ACM@UCO. The school is currently housed in the Oklahoma Hardware Building in Bricktown, but is expected to outgrow that location within a few years.

The programs has already fielded dozens of application requests and more than 8,000 inquiries. The school expects around 100 students for the inaugural semester - Fall 2009.
