OKC's Color Me Badd to reunite

The 1990s Oklahoma City rhythm and blues act Color Me Badd has announced it is reuniting.

Back in February, the act posted a cryptic message to its fans via MySpace: "We're back! Much more info to come, stay tuned..." Signed: original members Bryan Abrams, Kevin Thornton and Mark Calderon.

The fourth member of CMB, Sam Watters, is off producing albums for Kelly Clarkson and Oklahoma City indie pop rocker Aranda.

The pop act formed in 1990 and had a string of popular hits, including "I Wanna Sex You Up," "All 4 Love" and "I Adore Mi Amor."

And, from that one cryptic MySpace post, the cyberspace banter recently exploded via Oklahoma City news and satire blog, The Lost Ogle. The snarky site reported on how actor-turned-rapper Joaquin Phoenix was invited to perform at the Norman Music Festival, scheduled for April 25 in the college town.

Then, the Lost Ogle extended a similar invite to Color Me Badd, saying, "As long as Bryan Abrams doesn’t get drunk and attack us, this would probably be the next best thing to getting Joaquin. I’m not sure if that’s a good or bad thing."

Abrams was arrested last September in Oklahoma City, on complaints of domestic abuse and assault and battery for threatening to kill his girlfriend.

What followed the Lost Ogle post was an e-mail from Abrams' manager, Kim Frazier. ... The band wanted to perform at the Norman Music Festival.

But, the Lost Ogle reports, "(Norman Music Festival) got in touch with Color Me Badd — and would you not believe it — a tentative agreement was reached for CMB to perform at the NMF. Unfortunately, though, things fell apart at the last second and the former Oklahoma City boy band won’t play at the show."

As of yet, the band hasn't announced any further plans for live dates or album releases.
