Lake Winnie announces 2009 Jukebox junction concert schedule

Celebrate the arrival of summer with a toe-tappin’, hand-clappin’ fun time with friends and family at Lake Winnepesaukah.

The concert series, free with admittance to Lake Winnepesaukah, combines a full day at the park with two free performances during the day by legendary and popular up-and-coming country music artists on the Jukebox Junction stage.

Lake Winnepesaukah kicks off its annual Jukebox Junction Concert series on Sunday, May 31, with country sensation Jimmy Wayne. Character, creativity and an unbridled passion for life infuse Jimmy Wayne’s music and reverberate through every track on Do You Believe Me Now, his debut on the Valory Music Co.

“It’s definitely a change,” he said of his new effort. “The record that I put together has only two ballads on it and that’s it. Everything else is up-tempo. I spent three years trying to find these songs that just really set me apart.”

Country legend John Anderson returns to the Jukebox Junction Stage on Sunday, June 28. The John Anderson story is about dedication to craft without sacrificing one’s best instincts, about giving people what they paid to hear over the course of thousands of shows and a long trail of gold and platinum albums.

On Sunday, July 12, country superstar Keith Anderson will perform. The release of his second album C’MON! finds Anderson, the Grammy-nominated songwriter, in fine form. He co-wrote 10 of the 11 songs, pairing with some of Nashville’s top tunesmiths.

“I’m just such a social person that I love people and working together with them,” explained the Oklahoma native.

The Lost Trailers will bring their unique sound to the Jukebox Junction Stage on Sunday, July 26. The Lost Trailers came together naturally, matured creatively, perform explosively and have poured all of that into their new album, Holler Back.

“Music is important and has a lasting quality,” said lead vocalist Ryder Lee. “But music should be fun too; there needs to be a balance. ‘Holler Back’ is a fun song that captures the element of our live show which is really important to us as well.”

The Eli Young Band’s music has all the hallmarks of youth: passion, energy and excitement. The band’s story is the definition of commitment: eight years spent honing its sound while building to the release of its first national album, Jet Black & Jealous. The album’s driving sound and never-say-die lyrical core capture the free-wheeling nature of their concerts, which have built them a solid base of fans.

In what has become a Lake Winnie tradition, local favorites Confederate Railroad will conclude the concert series Sunday, Sept. 6.

Few acts have carved as distinctive a niche in modern musical history as Confederate Railroad. With their high-energy combination of honky-tonk rockers, sensitive ballads and offbeat humor, they have created a unique identity that has brought them chart success, multi-platinum sales, and continued popularity as a road band.

Lake Winnepesaukah opens for the 2009 season on Saturday, April 18. All Jukebox Junction concerts are at 3 and 8 p.m. and are free with admittance to the park. All guests under 18 must be accompanied by a guest age 18 or older and must purchase either a combination $5 gate admission and $12 value strip of ride tickets or $5 gate admission and $21 unlimited ride pass. Or, they must be a member of a chaperoned group. Guests over 18 must purchase a $5 gate admission and may choose to purchase individual ride tickets or a ride package. Children 2 and under are admitted free but must be paid for to ride. Parking is free.
