The Black Crowes Play Tonight at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater

The Black Crowes are known for their awesome live performances, but in the past, some critics remarked that the energetic live vibe the band has a reputation for hadn’t translated on a couple of their albums. This time, they’ve captured that vibe on their latest album, Before the Frost, the first in a double-CD series, to be followed by Until the Freeze.
For Before, they recorded their new songs in their drummer’s home studio in front of an audience, with some great results. They stay true to the guitar-driven Southern blues/rock style that’s put their name on the map, but they now dip their toes in a rootsier side of their songwriting.
The Black Crowes are in Austin for a show tonight at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater, 801 Red River. North Carolina roots music masters Truth and Salvage Co. opens the show. Gates open at 7 p.m. Don’t forget there’s also a great aftershow on Stubb’s indoor stage with Austin band Dertybird. Doors open at 10 p.m. Good stuff all around, kids, so enjoy.
