TODAY'S TOP ROCK HEADLINES

U2'S NEXT ALBUM IS "MAKING ITSELF," SAYS PRODUCER DANIEL LANOIS
U2 have completed several recording sessions for their next album in Morocco and France with producers Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois, who tells Rolling Stone, "We've been invited as writers this time." For more on the follow-up to 2004's How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb and the band's appearance in Lanois' forthcoming documentary, click HERE.

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN AND THE E STREET BAND ANNOUNCE FALL TOUR
Dates for Bruce Springsteen's massive fall tour supporting his October 2nd album Magic - his first trek with the E Street Band in four years - kick off October 2nd in Hartford, Connecticut, and wrap December 19th at London's O2 Arena. Tickets to some U.S. shows go on sale starting September 8th. For a full list of dates and venues and information on where to download Magic's first single, "Radio Nowhere," for free, click HERE.

KANYE WEST UNVEILS 'GRADUATION,' BADMOUTHS ALL-STAR HIP-HOP JAMS
As usual, Kanye West came close to overshadowing his own music as he previewed his new album at a midtown Manhattan movie theater this week: He talked at length after the album played, asserting that Graduation is one of the "top ten" hip-hop albums ever and that he's one of the "top five MCs" of all time. When asked what it felt like to be onstage with Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Diddy and T.I. at New York's Screamfest concert last week, West said "it would have felt better to hit the stage with me and Jay like we planned." NEW MUSIC TUESDAYS: BEN HARPER AND THE INNOCENT CRIMINALS' 'LIFELINE'
Rolling Stone's Joe Levy devotes this week's entire new-release video review to Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals' latest album, Lifeline, focusing on the way Harper and Co. recorded the album (the old-fashioned way, White Stripes-style) and its resemblance to Tom Petty's work. Click HERE to watch the entire video review, which includes clips from the album's "In the Colors."

THE KILLERS RECORDING DUET WITH LOU REED
The Killers' next release is a B-sides compilation, however bassist Mark Stoermer has revealed that the album will also include never-before-recorded songs written during the sessions for last year's Sam's Town, one of which is a duet with Lou Reed. Click HERE to find out more about the collaboration.

TODAY'S PICKS

DAILY TRACK: Manu Chao - "Rainin in Paradize"
The attention getter from Manu Chao's latest album, La Radiolina - especially in Anglophone America - will be "Rainin in Paradize," which curtly explains why country after country in Africa and the Middle East is "no good place to be." Click HERE for more on La Radiolina.

DAILY VIDEO: Ryan Adams - "Amy"

DAILY REVIEW: Rilo Kiley - Under the Blacklight
Because Rilo Kiley's More Adventurous was a triumph of the well-made narrative song, its markedly terser and beatier follow-up, which is also the band's true major-label debut, will be accused of sellout. Instead, it's yet more adventurous, a prosperous band's challenge to its comfortable cult. Click HERE for more on the latest Rilo Kiley album.
