TODAY'S TOP ROCK HEADLINES

THE NEXT COVER OF ROLLING STONE: MAROON 5
The guessing is over: the next cover of Rolling Stone, on stands this week, is Maroon 5. Click here to read an excerpt of the cover story, in which Adam Levine and Co. talk about their tendency to fight over just about everything, from their second album to a Lenny Kravitz music video, and check back tomorrow for behind-the-scenes video from the photo shoot.

PREVIEW MUSIC FROM NEIL YOUNG'S NEXT ALBUM
Neil Young's upcoming Chrome Dreams II features ten tracks, three of which were written earlier in Young's extensive career. One previously penned track is "Ordinary People," which Young performed nearly twenty years ago. Click here to check out live clips of Young playing "Ordinary People."

WAL-MART, MTV CHALLENGE iTUNES
Retail giant Wal-Mart will be challenging iTunes by selling copy-protection-free tracks more cheaply than the Apple music store. Meanwhile, a fresh partnership between MTV, Real Networks and Verizon will create Rhapsody America. For more on the battle over digital music, click here.

WATCH THE TRAILER TO TODD HAYNES' BOB DYLAN FILM 'I'M NOT THERE'
The trailer for the upcoming Bob Dylan-inspired movie I'm Not There has made its way to the Internet along with an announcement about the film's planned release. Harvey Weinstein, whose Weinstein Company will distribute the film, explained the movie will be slowly released to theaters this fall - starting with four theaters in New York and Los Angeles on November 21. ROLLING STONE BREAKING ARTIST: CARIBOU
The latest Rolling Stone Breaking Artist is a solo act in disguise: trippy psychedelic rocker is really Dan Snaith, a Canadian-born electro-pop mastermind who used to perform under the name Manitoba. TODAY'S PICKS

DAILY TRACK: The Virgins - "Rich Girls"
New York-based quartet the Virgins play a brand of soul and R&B-tinged rock that's showcased in "Rich Girls." In the track, a fantastically funky bassline bobs and weaves while two angular guitars battle it out and lead singer Donald Cummings' vocals (alternately drowsy, falsetto and energetic) explore his fascination with the inner psyche of a "Rich Girl." Click here for more on the band.

DAILY REVIEW: Talib Kweli - Eardrum
Talib Kweli earns the respect he gets. He's got plenty of brains and enough flow, and though his attempts to make conscious rap commercial inspire purist sniping, he's balanced the two with integrity and grace. But four solo albums in, it can't be an accident that he's done his signature work with collaborators - Mos Def (Black Star), Hi-Tek (Reflection Eternal) and many, many cameos (try "My Favorite Mutiny"). Click here for more of Robert Christgau's review.
