Howdee friends!!
Monica Taylor here sending out a message from the loft of this barnhouse near Perkins, OK. The rain has been coming down steady for a few days. I'm looking out thru the tops of about 50 pecan trees to the west... it's lovely.
I am finally sitting down in my home with a satisfied mind~ my second CD entitled "Cotton Shirt" is now just 2 weeks from being here in the middle of my living room floor!
Well, by golly, I think we got her whooped...
I would love for you to hear a few of these songs and to read the cd's insert with lyrics to my new self-penned tunes.
My dear friend David Rush who lives in Memphis, TN ( he is originally from Oklahoma) is doing such a wonderful job on my web page for me!
He will be uploading sound bytes of all eleven songs very soon... but you can read the cd insert that Dianna Burrup of Broken Arrow, OK put together for me....
and you can see the photographs that Donna Meier of Tulsa, OK took during the month of recording at the Tulsa Rose Gardens and in Tulsa's Woodward Park.
They are both angels... and are so talented.
Visit www.monicataylormusic.com... go to the Music page.
Let me tell you when it began and who I have to thank:
We recorded 8 of these songs in Tulsa at Soultree Recording studio owned by Jared Tyler & Travis Fite. John Fullbright, Shelby Eicher, Doug Weymeir, and the truly fabulous Steve Pryor all played on this recording!
Then Don Morris, Jared Tyler, and I went down to Austin, TX and Cedar Creek Studios to record three tunes- Fred Remmert was engineering.
These songs were recorded with Jimmy Lafave and his band- John Inmon, Radoslav Lorkavich, and Mark Patterson with Don Morris on bass. These are noted in the liner notes.
We began the last two days of July and finished all of the recording by the last week of August... then Jared Tyler- the man who is the reason all happened- and I mixed for about 2 weeks. Jared plays dobro, banjo, gut string guitar, and sings on this project.
I am such a lucky girl- and a very, very thankful one, too.
Advance sales for "Cotton Shirt!"
I have already pre-sold a bunch of cds thru the web page by Pay Pal and from people using the 'order forms' they printed off and mailed to me.
This certainly helps me get the packages ready to go in advance!
Thank you dear friends... I will send out your entire orders in two weeks. (...to those of you who ordered any of the other cds in addition to the new one, that is. )
A good reason to record...
Thanks to Garrison Keillor for putting two of my songs- 'Young Mother' and
"Hello, Goodbye, I'm Gone' (both written with Patrick Williams)- out there to the
Prairie Home Companion radio show fans.
I had so many requests for these songs to be on a new CD that I just buckled down and got 'er done!
If you get on the Sonic Bids webpage, you can look me up there and listen to a few of the new tunes... or just wait a couple a days and they'll be up on my web page.
