OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Noted philanthropist Wanda Louise Bass has died at the age of 81.
A McAlester native, Bass is well known for her contributions to Oklahoma City University, where her name graces the $38.5 million Wanda L. Bass School of Music. Officials at the university say Bass died on Tuesday.
A separate $2.1 million gift bought 105 Steinway pianos for the 69,000-square-foot musical school.
OCU has two faculty chairs at OCU: the Wanda L. Bass Chair of Organ and the Wanda L. Bass Chair of Music Education.
Bass also has financially supported other schools in Oklahoma, particularly for fine arts programs.
