There have been a lot of good shows around town lately. DOWN played last Friday night, the LEGENDARY SHACK SHAKERS played just down the road and of course CORB LUND and BRIAN CAPPS played at the Horse all the same night. Attendance was good at all three shows and it proves that competition is a good thing among music venues and bars. We were also absolutely packed for The MARK CHAPMAN BAND CD release party on Saturday. I missed the Corb show, 'cause of the snot pot thing...which sucked for me. I really dig that show and everyone I talked to loved it. Let me get into Mark's show a little bit. This was a concert!!! Mark got off the stage and his band took off on a 20 minute jam medley that was crazy, unexpected, and I hope they do it again. Bill Bruce sang a tune which was also unexpected but at the same time, much better then what may have been expected. Joey had the lights jumpin' off the racks and the crowd loved every minute of it. I spent the whole night playing bartender 'cause we were 3 deep at the bar all night. No one complained and people obviously got served plenty by the time last call rolled around. After the show, everyone was just kind of standing around, visiting, and I could tell it was going to be a bitch to get everyone out on time. So I got on the mic and very politely said something like "Thank you guys so much for coming, but you'all would make my life so much easier if you could please leave the building so the police won't get me in trouble." To my amazement, everyone just left without any kind of delay. That may not sound like that's news worthy, but if you run a bar, you would know that getting people out of your club is never that easy and is amazing and is almost unheard of. Thank you people!
WED. JAN. 30th: COLE, CODY, and HUTCH with the "Not so special drink special." We may have sold out of Bud light, Miller light and Coors light at the Chapman show, but I still got plenty of Pabst and Stag among some of our other finer, fuller bodied beers!
FRI. FEB. 1st: MACHINA with The HORIZON IS AFTER US!!! We had this same show a couple of months ago on a Thursday night. I was very happy with the response and all the radio publicity and I am looking foreword to hosting this show on a Friday night. MACHINA is getting a bunch of air play nation wide and I guess that is a major reason I like booking these rock shows. It is just so much easier to get radio support. Set your dial on 106.7 or 102.1 and you will soon hear an ad about this show or a song by Machina. These guys are big any how. Check out their Myspace page and see what I mean.
SAT. FEB. 2nd: NO JUSTICE with ALLEN ROSS!!! No Justice is a true blue Oklahoma band that has absolutely blown up the last couple of years. They opened up for Boland several months ago but used to headline at the old bar every three months or so. They just got so busy that they're not as easy to get over here any more. NO JUSTICE is one of those bands that everyone will love. They kind of got a foot on both sides of the country/rock spectrum and are all over any Texas music chart or roots rock chart. If you listen to XM radio, you have heard these guys. They are also known for attracting lots of hot women that like to dance on tables. Don't know why, it's just the way it is. Maybe it's 'cause they cover a U2 song and the girls just wilt when they sing it.
With ROSS on the bill, this is going to be a wild one speaking of girls on tables. No really, this night will be off the hook!!!

Thanks,
Steve Greene
