2009 EVENT GUIDE FORMS DUE APRIL 1, 2008

The Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department (OTRD) is currently seeking event information for the 2009 calendar year. Event entries will be posted on the official website for Oklahoma travel and tourism information, www.TravelOK.com, and will be included in the 2009 Oklahoma Events Guide published by our department.
These listings are a FREE service provided by our department.
An extensive calendar full of exciting and uniquely Oklahoma events is important to showcasing all there is to see and do throughout our great state. We rely on you to help us keep our event listings as current as possible.
Events featured by the Oklahoma Department of Tourism are subject to the following conditions:
1. Events must be open to the public and have a broad appeal for both in- and out-of-state visitors. Please keep in mind our statewide event database is geared to tourists and travelers. Business-related events or those appealing to only one local community may be too limited in audience for our calendar.
2. Sidewalk sales, citywide garage sales, flea markets, conferences, pageants and talent shows are examples of events that will NOT be printed in the guide or placed on the website.
To continue receiving submission notices for our annual calendars, please make sure the contact information portion of the form is complete and contains a mailing address and a contact name or organization. A description of the event is also extremely important because travelers like to know what activities are taking place at your event.
The submission deadline for the 2009 Events Guide is April 1, 2008. We realize this is an early deadline, but it is necessary to complete our data entry, editing, formatting, designing and printing schedules. Any entries received after the due date will still be promoted on the website but may not appear in the printed guide.
Even if you do not have complete information regarding all the details for you event, please send us the information you DO have. We would rather list incomplete event information about your event no information at all. Remember, even if some information is listed as TBA, your contact information will be available for people to call and confirm those unpublished details.
If you cannot meet the April 1 deadline, please send the event information as soon as it becomes available. In addition to the Events Guide, OTRD offers multiple other avenues to highlight your event. However, we cannot promote your event if we are not aware of it. Keeping us informed ensures your organization is making the most of our free, promotional services.
If an event is canceled or the date or location changes throughout the year, please remember to send us these updates. It is critical that we know of these changes so we can provide the most accurate information possible to travelers.
Thank you for all of your hard work and time in filling out these forms. We want to do everything we can to help bring travelers to your event and to Oklahoma. Your assistance now provides the basis to ensure we have what we need to promote your event throughout 2009.
