SunFest is back.

“Oklahoma’s Biggest Outdoor Picnic” returns to Sooner Park today for three consecutive days of music, arts and crafts, food and fun. Though summer isn’t officially set to begin until June 21, SunFest offers one heck of a head start.

“We’re looking forward to another great year,” says Bo Wilson, a member of the SunFest board of directors. “There should be something for everyone to enjoy.”

Now in its 27th year, SunFest is known for its wide array of live musical acts, each of which is offered free to the public. This year’s eclectic mix will include the ragged rock of the Dustin Pittsley Band, the blues grooves of the Usual Suspects, the smooth jazz stylings of Grady Nichols and the folk charm of John Smith, among many others. The artists can be found on SunFest’s main stage as well as the mid-park stage and the bandshell, and perform throughout the festival.

Smith will help kick off this year’s SunFest with a 5:30 p.m. performance this evening on the main stage. Tonight’s final main stage show is slated to begin at 10 p.m. as Pittsley and his mates rev into action.

Saturday at SunFest is always an all-day affair, with the shows beginning in the morning and stretching into the late-night hours. The festival is due to wrap in the early evening on Sunday.
