Wayman Tisdale Chosen for Oklahoma HOF

Along with six others, Wayman Tisdale has been chosen to be inducted posthumously into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame.
Tisdale, who is mostly known for his accomplishments on the basketball court, recorded eight albums, including two (2001’s Face to Face and 2008’s Rebound) that peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard contemporary jazz chart. He was also awarded the Legacy Tribute Award by the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame in 2002.

• philanthropist Polly Nichols (Oklahoma City)
• football player Lee Roy Selmon (Eufaula)

Tisdale becomes the twentieth musician to be inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, joining Everett G. Fry (1938), Louise McMahon (1954), Roy Harris (1957), Madame Ramon Vinay (1964), Anita Bryant (1966), Mildred Andrews Boggess (1971), Merle Montgomery (1976), Roy Clark (1982), Roberta Knie (1982), Patti Page (1983), Vida Chenoweth (1985), Kay Starr (1988), Gene Autry (1991), Vince Gill (1997), Reba McEntire (1998), Jimmy Webb (1999), Leona Mitchell (2004), Woody Guthrie (2006) and Toby Keith (2007).
The 82nd Annual Oklahoma Hall of Fame induction will be held Nov. 12 at the Tulsa Renaissance Hotel & Convention Center. 628 people have been inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame since 1928.
